Woman Using Whitening Stipes or Whitestrips

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular procedure to make teeth whiter and brighter for a more beautiful smile. Everyone wants to feel confident and comfortable when they smile; but getting that smile to be its whitest isn’t always easy, often requiring multiple trips to the dentist… Not anymore! At Bayshore Dentistry we have two tried and true methods to accomplish your whitening goals: Sheer white strips or take-home whitening trays. Both are easy to use in the comfort of your own home.

The Sheer White professional strength whitening strips can be worn any time of the day for periods of 2-4 hours or overnight if preferred. The clear customized trays are made after taking an impression of your teeth. Once the trays are fabricated, we will show you how to apply the special bleaching solution to the trays. They can be worn for 1-3 hours or overnights as well. At the end of your treatment period, you will see maximum whitening results that are nothing short of dazzling. Occasional “touch-up” treatment can be used at your convenience to maintain your new smile.

Porcelain Onlays

Porcelain Onlays also referred to as partial crowns, replace part of the structure of a tooth with a porcelain coating. Regular crowns require molding the whole outer area of a tooth and then placing a porcelain cover over the entire remaining tooth.

Advantages

Porcelain inlays and onlays are the same types of dental restoration but onlays cover only part of the tooth, meaning that the end result leaves as much of the natural tooth as possible. Onlays also do not go below the gum line so there is no chance of gum irritation.

Porcelain onlays match the natural color of the tooth and are esthetically pleasing. If properly cared for, porcelain onlays can last a long time. As with any dental restoration, practicing good oral hygiene is the key to preservation.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin, porcelain shells that cover the front, visible part of teeth. Unlike crowns that cover a whole tooth to protect severely damaged teeth, veneers aesthetically modify a discolored, misaligned, chipped, or misshapen tooth.

Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular procedures today because they dramatically improve the look of teeth in a quick and easy way.

Advantages of Porcelain Veneers
  • Porcelain veneers are stain resistant and do not change color over time.
  • Veneers match the natural color of your teeth and are aesthetically pleasing.
  • Porcelain veneers are very durable and can last a decade or more.
Things to Consider
  • Placement of veneers requires alterations of the natural teeth in order to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Tooth decay or other dental problems should be addressed prior to the placement of veneers.
  • Placement of veneers is not reversible.
  • Deciding whether or not porcelain veneers are right for you is a big decision so make sure you visit the team at Bayshore Dentistry for a consultation.

Composite Resin Fillings

For over 100 years, cavities have been repaired with “silver fillings” also called silver amalgams which are a mixture of different metals including silver, tin, and copper. Modern dentistry has developed the preferred method of using resin fillings (tooth-colored fillings).

Bayshore Dentistry Composite Resin Fillings

Composite Resin fillings are tooth-colored, bonded fillings that are often used instead of silver fillings for a more aesthetic, natural-looking result. Commonly called “white fillings” composite resin fillings are created to perfectly match your teeth so that cavities and decay-prone areas of your teeth can be “filled” while still maintaining an aesthetically pleasing, natural-looking smile.

Created to resemble the color of your natural teeth, the composite resin is easy to use and bonded to your teeth to repair any decay damage. Composite resin is made up of glass or quartz filler added to the resin medium to attain the tooth-colored filling medium. There is no metal and it can be shaped to resemble a real tooth so that often people can’t tell where their own fillings are.

For many years amalgam or “silver fillings” were the only choice to be had when it came to decay and cavity repair. Now though, there are many options, including the popular composite resin choices. Composite resin fillings can protect your teeth from further decay and damage and should last as long as your teeth do. Proper care and maintenance such as brushing and flossing still have to be done to ensure the health of the rest of your tooth’s enamel, even after the composite resin filling is bonded.

We work with all types of insurance options and provide numerous payment plan options that can fit your budget. Set up an appointment today to have a consult and see if a composite resin filling could be the perfect solution to correcting decay or cavities in your teeth.
